In the heart of Mathare, children gather in our community library of Mashimoni to read, learn, and dream. Here, education goes beyond classrooms. We nurture creativity, critical thinking, and life skills — giving every child the confidence to shape their future.
Who We Are?
Mashimoni CBO was born out of a simple observation: too many children in Mathare were missing school due to financial challenges, unsafe spaces, and limited opportunities. What began as a small library where children could read and study has grown into a lifeline for families — combining education, mentorship, and extracurricular activities.
With the incredible support of ChallengeAid, Education in a Suitcase, our learners have been able to thrive in their studies and build confidence through access to digital lessons, mentorship, and learning tools.
Together, these partnerships have made a lasting impact — from weekly shopping distributions and sanitary towels for girls, to activities like the Girls and Boys Club, Mathare Got Talent, and interactive Zoom lessons that keep learning alive and fun.
Today, we proudly serve hundreds of children and families, proving that when a community invests in its young people — and when kind partners walk beside them — transformation follows.
